Love in the business place? Now I know people have been told we are to leave our emotions at home when we come to work, but how is that really possible? How can someone just simply check who they are at the door and become a mindless machine for eight hours until the bell rings and then reassume their identity as they leave? People always have a desire to love and be loved. Even in the business world.

Tim Sanders wrote a book several years ago called Love Is The Killer App. I read it some time ago and then recently re-read it because I loved it so much. Tim addresses the concept of love in the business place. In fact, he says it is going to be the application that separates the successful from the unsuccessful in the future.

In the book, love is defined as, “The act of intelligently and sensibly sharing your intangibles with your bizpartners.” The intangibles that he describes are one’s knowledge, network, and compassion. Tim says, “Leveraging these three on the behalf of others is the key to true bizlove.”

The lessons I have learned from this book are shaping my understanding of living love in a new and unique way. I am learning what it means to live love in the business place. I am developing into a “lovecat” who shares his intangibles with others. I recommend anyone interested in loving people read this book to hear Tim’s perspective.

The irony is, this is a non-religious book. Tim was the Chief Solutions Officer for Yahoo! when he wrote Love Is The Killer App. It is strictly a book from a business man’s perspective as to how LOVE works no matter what. Even in the business world.
